Where Design Begins
An introduction to the Zine
Design isn’t just what is made. It’s how we see, notice and respond.
This journal begins with the idea that thoughtful design grows from observation. From the texture of stone, the line of a mountain, the feeling a piece of music can evoke. These moments shape the way objects are built, quietly, but completely.
Whether working on a brand identity, a set, a website, or a piece of furniture, the intention stays the same: to begin with understanding, and let form emerge from meaning. Clarity becomes not a style, but a way of communicating with care.
Posts will explore process and inspiration through architecture, cinema, books, sound, and the material world. From Tadao Ando’s architecture merging with landscape, to Wong Kar Wai’s use of color and pacing, Éric Rohmer’s natural use of music within a scene, or how lighting in a Pina Bausch set creates emotion before a single movement begins, each reference is mentioned in an attempt to look more closely.
This journal offers space to think through design, slowly, curiously, and with intention.
